about coloring

Hi this is Violet Bing again.
It's been a while since I've written, but I thought you would be interested to hear from me!

Today, my author asks me what I think of COLORING. I think coloring is good, but not as good as creating. With creating, you have an idea and then you come up with lots of other ideas to fill it all in with, but with coloring you only get to choose something that someone already came up with and then fill it in. And I think that using exactly the colors that everyone says you should use may not be that good for you and so you should really do it the way you want.

The author says she thinks coloring is FUN, so she is including a link to some coloring sheets.

Which I think is okay, but that you should color them with whatever color you want and not fuss about the lines.

I am glad to talk to you.

Yours With Beads,
V. Bing

p.s. This is a picture of me WRITING not actually COLORING, but I thought it would be good enough.

about beads

Hi, this is Violet Bing again. A lot of people are asking me about the beads and they don't want to read the book to find out. So, I'll just tell you that in the story, my friend, Magnolia Greene Gold has some paper mache beads she made that she gives me. And that's when we really become friends. And I write her a letter and sign it, "Yours With Beads" to let her know that I am accepting her friendship. And that's one of the best parts of the book, I think.
Anyway -

about the dog

Today I wanted to write about the Dog because I think he is important and there is not much talk about him. Here are some interesting facts that you might want to know but do not even know you want to know because it never even occurred to you that it might be so.

First of all, in the early drafts of VIOLET BING AND THE GRAND HOUSE, the Dog was more like a person. He still had paws and everything but he would stand on two legs a lot. And he also would do things - like clean and build and fix things. He was handy, really. He also rode on the back of my bicycle with me. You may not believe this and so I am including a picture of myself and the Dog - as proof. IT REALLY DID HAPPEN.

Another thing you might want to know is that the Dog once carried a long wooden stick with a sack at the end. I don't really know why the author did this. I think the Dog was supposed to be traveling and that's what he carried his stuff in. But I think it was a bad idea and am glad she got rid of it. You can see it in the picture of us on the bicycle if you look carefully.

Note: the author still likes the long stick with that thing on the end and uses the word, "inspired" to describe it.

Yours With Beads (this means Yours In Friendship, really, but it would be good if you could read my book and then you would understand it better),

a conversation with my author

This is me, Violet Bing, talking to the one who wrote and drew me:

V.Bing: All in all, I think you did a pretty good job writing my story but what I was wondering was- wouldn't it have been
better if I'd had less problems?

JP: I don't make the news, I just report it.

V.Bing: I don't really know what that means.

JP: In other words, that is how I found you - with those problems. Besides, problems are just made by how you're
thinking.

V.Bing: How was I thinking?

JP: Too much "No", not enough "Yes".

V.Bing: But couldn't you have just made it so I said more "Yes"?

JP: Good question - but overall I think it's best to make up the Truth, and I try to stick to that as much as possible.

V.Bing: Okay. I think I'll have to think about that more.

JP: Yes, me too.

V.Bing: In my story, there is a dog and he becomes a GREAT and IMPORTANT friend to me. Don't you think it would
have been better if he talked?

JP: Well, I think if you're going to write what someone says, you'd better know what they'd say. I only knew what he thought
and felt - I didn't know which part of that he would actually choose to SAY. And so, there was my bind. It's okay though,
for me it's enough to know that he could talk if he wanted to.

note to reader: I will tell you more of my conversation with the author once I have it. Bye for now.

hello from violet bing

Hello, my name is Violet Bing. I am almost eight years old. I'm pleased to meet you (that's what you're supposed to say). There is a book that tells the story of me and it's called, VIOLET BING AND THE GRAND HOUSE. If you want, you can buy it at the bookstore. Even though there is a story of me, I am going to write in here and tell you more. Because I think you want to know more. I didn't used to have IMPORTANT FRIENDS before, but now I do and I will tell you about them. And maybe they will even write too. That, I think, would be better than not.

Yours With Beads (I will explain this later),
